Thank you!

18 June 2010

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who nominated us for the Houston Press Music Awards! We made it on the ballot in the folk category, and we couldn’t have done it without your help. We’re very flattered to be on the list with some really talented artists. Voting starts on July 15, so make sure you vote online or pick up an issue of Houston Press in July. We’ll keep you posted on any updates on voting or the annual showcase.

Shows, Recording, and Houston Press Awards

15 June 2010

The band has been busy and have plenty coming up. We’ve got a show Friday July 16 at Rudyard’s with our friends Melissa Savcic and Stephen Rawlings. Also, recording for our upcoming EP is finally complete! The final touches were done by Paul Cox at 226 Recordings. Working with Paul was a great experience, and we highly recommend him. We’ll hopefully finish the mixing and mastering at the end of June and be on time for our planned release date and show on August 28. We’ve teamed up with a couple of people to help us along the way: Molly Rodriguez, graphic designer extraordinaire, and your name [HERE] media.

Being a relatively new group we didn’t expect it, but we’ve been nominated for Best Folk in the Houston Press 2010 Music Awards. Last year there was voting and a showcase (around the end of July), so follow Houston Press for updates on the show and voting.

I’ll leave you with two cool musical things I’ve come across recently: modular synths and our friend and fantastic singer, Sydney Harkreader, performing her song “Midnight”:
